WHAT CONDITIONS DOES NANOFRACTIONAL RF SKIN SURFACING TREAT?

HOW DOES NANOFRACTIONAL RADIOFREQUENCY SKIN RESURFACING WORK?
Venus Viva skin resurfacing treatments work with tiny pins that safely deliver heat (via NanoFractional Radio Frequency) through the skin’s surface. This creates tiny micro-dermal wounds, which the body then works to heal naturally. This process repairs signs of skin damage seen on the surface of the skin.
Don’t worry! The treatment doesn’t further damage your skin. The microscopic wounds stimulate the body's natural mechanism into action, releasing collagen producing cells to heal from deep within, replacing unhealthy old cells with healthy, new ones. Since the wounds are so small, the treatment is much more comfortable than traditional CO2 lasers and produces satisfying results.
HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?
Venus Viva treatments take about 30-45 min depending on the location and the size of the targeted area. Additional time is required to numb the desired treatment area depending on the strength of the treatment setting chosen. Depending on individual skin type and condition, some people may notice satisfactory results with 1-3 treatments, but others with severe skin damage may require more sessions to achieve dramatic results they seek. Usually required 1-3 treatments, 1-2 months apart and sun restriction.
IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?
Sunburn or spicy, is the usual response we hear from patients. You will feel tiny pins on your skin followed by a little zap. However, what Venus Viva resurfacing feels like depends on the individual's pain tolerance, depth, and the area of treatment. Sensitive skin types may notice more discomfort than others. Usually, the discomfort wears off within 30-90min after the procedure. At Ascends Medspa, we customize numbing cream depending on patient skin sensitivities to provide a pain free treatment.
WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME WITH NANOFRACTIONAL RESURFACING VENUS VIVA TREATMENT?
Venus Viva with NanoFractional RF and SmartScan technology doesn’t require much downtime. You can go about your daily activities the next day post treatment. Makeup can be used 24hrs after the treatment.
You will experience some “griding” and roughness in texture (scaling) which sometimes may last 2-3 weeks. It is not recommended to apply or rub anything on your skin, including water or sweat, unless prescribed by your clinician/physician. No hot yoga or any other exercise for 24 hrs that will make you perspire. You should apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30, preferably one without chemicals.
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY PHASE AFTER NANOFRACTIONAL RESURFACING TREATMENT?
Redness, mild swelling and slight discomfort are expected for the first 24hrs after treatment. Sensitive skin types may notice redness and mild hives immediately after the treatment. With more aggressive treatments, redness and flaking of the treated skin may be noted up to 5-7days. Resume regular skin care and make up routine 24hrs after the treatment. Sun exposure is to be strictly avoided during the first week after the treatment. SPF 50 or higher sun block is highly recommended during the heal period.
AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR THIS TREATMENT? IS IT CONSIDERED SAFE FOR ALL SKIN TYPES?
SmartScan technology integrated with the next generation Venus Viva is color blind, which allows safe treatment for all skin types. Venus Viva treatments are safe even for darker skin tones. The ideal candidate is anyone who shows signs of skin damage, including deep wrinkles, scars, visible pores, stretch marks, and/or anything else that affects the skin texture.
For safety reasons, you may not be able to get this treatment if you have/are:
- Any permanent implant or injected substance around the treatment area
- An internal defibrillator/pacemaker or any other active electrical implant in the body
- Any active conditions in the treatment area (e.g. rash)
- Current history of cancer ( including pre-malignant moles)
- Pregnant or nursing
- Impaired immune system or other skin conditions stimulated by heat (e.g. herpes)
- Use of retin A in the past 4 weeks.
- Taking blood thinners
- Other laser resurfacing treatments or chemical peels within the past 3 months.
DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING TO PREPARE FOR THE TREATMENT?
Do not apply any makeup, lotions, creams, perfumes, powder or other skin care products before the treatment. Avoid tanning before the treatment. Remove all jewellery around the area being treated. If you have excessive hair on the treatment area, shave it beforehand. At Ascends Medspa, our clinicians will go over detailed medical history during your initial consult.
ARE THE RESULTS PERMANENT? HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?
After the final treatment, your results will continue to improve over the next 3-6 months. One touch-up session may be needed approximately every 6-12 months, depending on how your skin responds.
